Luz bay is a very good beach for children to swim at and a very poor one to learn to surf at, because it is sheltered from most swell. What we do instead is drive the short distance to a beach with a long, gentle whitewater section, usually on the south coast, and run the lesson there.
The plan is built around the youngest person in the group. Short sessions with breaks, soft-top boards, children's wetsuits and a lunch stop that everyone treats as the main event. Older kids and adults get harder tasks in the same session so nobody is bored.

Is the drive too long for young children?
